Destinations

Terelj National Park - is an exhibition of steppe regions of the southwestern part of Khentii mountain range. In 1993, the Gorkhi-Terelj area was protected as a National Park, especially because of its natural scenic beauty it has been used as a tourism destination by both Mongolians and foreigners since 1964. Terelj was name of a plant (Latin ledum) which is very abundant in the area and which flowers at the end of the spring. Edelweiss is also very common here. The forests are full of birch, cedar, pine, willow, larch and aspen. 

Turtle Rock – One of the unusual formulating rock is the Turtle Rock, or called Melkhi Khad by the locals, is an interesting rock formation looking like a turtle. The Turtle rock is set in the valley, it was about 20 minutes drive from our base camp.

Gunjiin sum – Surrounded by magnificent forests, not far from the beautiful river Baruun Bayan gol, the temple was built in 1970 by Efu Dondovdorj to the memory of his Manju wife Amarlangui. This Gunjiin sum or Princess Temple is one of the Manju influenced temple in Mongolia that survived communist era. Only the main temple and some of the walls of the monastery remain stayed till today. This is great place for hiking and horse riding adventure. The temple is located 30km north of the main area of the national park.

Nomadic life

Mongolia is well known for its nomadic traditions. The nomadic way of lifestyle is still practiced today in the rural areas of the country. Nomads follow a seasonal routine raising and breeding the five main types of stock – goat, sheep, cattle (including yaks), camel and horse, migrating from place to place following the most favorable pastures and campsites. 

Khar khorin, Erdene zuu

Kharkhorin - In 1220 Chinggis Khaan established the capital of Mongolian empire on the fertile plains along the Orkhon River. This is called Kharkhorin, 373 km from Ulaanbaatar city. Kharkhorin is located at the lower end of the upper valley of the Orkhon River, which is part if the World Heritage Site Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. The location marks the eastern foothills of the Khangai Mountains. Kharkhorin town population is 8,977 (2003), city area is 20.5 km2.

Erdene Zuu Khiid - The first Buddhist monastery called Erdene-Zuu was built on ruins of Kharkhorin. It was built in 1586 at the initiative of Avtai khan, most influential Prince of that time in MongoliaThe monastery occupies an area surrounded by a stone wall with 108 stupas lining on it. 

Khuvsgul lake

Khuvsgul lake is located in the northwest of Mongolia near the Russian border, at the foot of the eastern Sayan Mountains. It is 1,645 metres (5,397 feet) above sea level, 136 kilometres (85 miles) long and 262 metres (860 feet) deep. It is the second-most voluminous freshwater lake in Asia, and holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world.[1]The town of Hatgal is at the southern end of the lake.

Its watershed is relatively small, and it only has small tributaries. It is drained at the south end by the Egiin Gol, which connects to the Selenge and ultimately into Lake Baikal. Between the two lakes, the water travels a distance of more than 1,000 km (621 mi), and falls 1,169 metres (3,835 feet), although the line-of-sight distance is only about 200 km (124 mi). 

Altai tavan Bogd Mountain

Altai Tavan Bogd is the nighest mountain in Mongolia. The meaning of the name is Five Saints of Altai. This mountain is located in the Bayan Ulgii province. The Huiten Peak is the highest point of Mongolia at 4374 meters above sea level. Besides Huiten peak, the mountain includes four peaks as NairamdalMalchin, Burged and Ulgii. The Nairamdal Peak forms the border tripoint between Mongolia, Russia, and the Xinjiang province of China. Around the area is listing Altai Tavan Bogd National Park covers 6,362 km². It includes the lakes Khoton, Khurgan, and Dayan. The protected area offers a home for many species of alpine animal, such as the Argali sheep, Ibex, Red deer, Beech marten, Moose, Snow cock, and Golden eagle. 

Khorgo, Terkhiin tsagaan lake national park

Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake – Known as Great White Lake is lake in the Khangai Mountains in central Mongolia. Terkhiin Tsagaan lake is a spectacularly beautiful lake with crystal clear water. The lava flows of Khorgo Volcanic eruption blocked the north and south Terkh Rivers and formed this beautiful Terkhiin Tsagaan lake at an altitude of 2060m above sea level. The lake is 16km wide, 4-10 meters deep with its deepest point at 28m and 20km in length. 

Khorgo Volcano - Khorgo is located on the northern part of Khangai Mountain Range at an altitude of 2965m above sea level and about 700 km from UB, 4km from Tariat soum of Arkhangai province. Khorgo volcano is dead volcano covered with basalt. The volcano crater of the Togoo Uul is 200m wide and 100 deep. 

Chuluut River Canyon – One of the wonderful natural attractions of the Khangai region is Chuluut river and its scenic canyon. The Chuluut River rises in Egiin Pass of the Khangai Mountain range and flows for 415km north to join the Ider River, further flows to Selenge River. The Chuluut River flows through a sheer basalt canyon, which extends 100km from lava of nearby dead volcano Khorgo and others. There are cool springs called Choidog Borgio, where the Chuluut and Ikh Jargalantiin Rivers merge. It is brilliant place for hiking, fishing and camping

Taikhar Rock – This large rock that stands out in the middle of a plain in Mongolia is located 22km along the main road west of Tsetserleg city - a provincial capital. This is a huge rock, there is nothing similar in the neighborhood. The Taikhar chuluu is covered with inscriptions dating back as far as Turkic rule in Mongolia. Those inscriptions were followed by more in the Mongol language, then Tibetan, and even more modern graffiti.

Gobi gurvan saikhan national park

Yol Valley (Eagle Valley) – is located in the eastern part of Gurvan Saikhan Mountain and surrounded by sheer rock walls rising over 2600m above sea level. Yol Valley is originally established to conserve the birdlife in the region but famous for its dramatic scenery. The picturesque valley is an amazing natural creation where it has meters thick ice almost year around. 

Khongor Sand Dunes (Khongoryn Els) - Khongor Sand Dunes (Khongoryn Els) is a largest and most beautiful sand dune in Mongolia, which reaches a height of 800 meter, 12 km wide and 100 km long. The Sand dune lies at the northwest corner of the Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range. It is located 180km from the Dalanzadgad city, provincial capital.  The sound of masses of wind-blown sand can be heard from the long distance. 

Bayanzag - Bayanzag is also known as the “Cemetery of Dinosaurs” and known as Flaming Cliffs to the world. This is a picturesque sexual forest that is world famous for dinosaur remain ancient red rock creation, Bayanzag formed 60-70 million years ago,  named
